Floor coating

A floor coating gives your floor

a whole new look in no time at all

You may be looking for a different color to paint your old floor, you may be looking to protect your old floor from fading and wear, or you may want to give your old floor a fresh appearance. If so, a floor coating is a good option for you.

How does a floor coating work?

A floor coating is an economical and quicker alternative to a cast floor. Floor coating differs from a cast floor in that it consists of two layers, in contrast with a cast floor which is made up of several layers. The old floor can be given a new and sleek look in no time with a floor coating; in addition to preventing wear, moisture and harmful liquids from getting into the existing floor surface.

What are the advantages of

using a floor coating?

  • Less than 1mm in thickness: this means that the new flooring is applied over the existing one in a very thin layer. This means that there is no requirement to take into account the height difference.
  • A protective layer: the application of a floor coating provides additional protection to your floor. Not only is it waterproof, but it is also durable.
  • Easy to clean: A floor coating is easy to clean due to the fact that it is seamless, and therefore can be easily cleaned with water.
  • It is easy to apply: the coating can be applied quickly and easily over a cast floor, but can also be applied over other floor types. It is also possible to repair damage on a self-leveling floor with the use of coating.
  • Coating can be manufactured in almost any color: any shade that can be imagined can be produced.
  • Easy to apply yourself: Floor coating is straightforward to apply, can be done by yourself, as long as you follow the right step-by-step method. It is more cost-effective from a price point of view than a cast floor, for example.

It is important to understand

the differences between a cast floor system and a floor coating

Since a floor coating can take less heavy loads than a cast floor, its lifespan is less than a cast floor. There is a good chance that irregularities from the existing floor will still appear on this floor because it consists of one layer. On the other hand, a cast floor does not have irregularities that are visible. A coated floor is unable to meet the requirements of hygiene and safety standards like a cast floor would, unless it has been impregnated extra or coated with a non-slip layer. In areas where there is less wear and tear, floor coatings are ideal. It is well suited for garages, basements, and other storage areas with little traffic. Additionally, it can also be used outdoors, such as on the terrace, as an example. An ideal floor coating would be applied to an existing solid surface, such as concrete or cement, as these surfaces are generally smooth and you want to avoid any unevenness in the coat.
